4.7.6. The firing procedures are:(a) before the order to fire is given, the shot-firer must be sure that the watchmen are at their posts and that all workers have taken shelter;
(b) distinct signals reserved for blasting operations must be used:i. immediately before blasting, 12 short horn signals must be sounded at one-second intervals;
ii. 30 seconds must elapse after the last warning signal before the load is fired; and
iii. after blasting, when the firing zone is found safe, one continuous 15-second horn signal must be sounded to signify that workers may resume work in the blasting area, after the waiting period prescribed in Subdivision 4.8;
(c) the employer must ensure that workers have taken shelter before the first signal is given and stay there until the agreed signal for exit is given;
(d) the signals reserved for blasting operations are written in coloured letters 150 mm high, against a contrasting background, on a board 1,200 mm high by 2,400 mm wide, placed at all points of access to the job-site.
